Alexander Henry Nims

Alexander Henry Nims, affectionately known as Alex, or Nimithy, was a man who brought light and laughter to those fortunate enough to know him. Born on October 1, 1996, in Iowa, to Matthew Jon Nims and Eileen Munnig Schmidt Nims.  Alex’s journey through life was marked by his hilarious spirit, sweet nature, and generous heart. He had a way of making everyone around him laugh, blending his sharp intelligence with a warmth that was deeply felt by friends and family alike. His passing on March 5, 2026, in Florida leaves a void that words can scarcely fill.

Alex earned his Associate’s Degree, an accomplishment that was just one reflection of his dedication and drive. But it was his service to his country that truly defined a significant part of his life. He began his military journey at Bootcamp, or Recruit Training Command, in Chicago, Illinois, setting the stage for an honorable career. From July 23, 2022, to May 15, 2023, he trained rigorously in the Joint Cyber Analysis Course, preparing himself to become a Cyber Warfare Technician (CWT).

His assignment to Navy Information Operations Command Pensacola (NIOC Pensacola) on May 15, 2023, saw him joining the 600 Combat Support Team, where Alex earned his Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist (EIWS) device. He distinguished himself as a Senior Digital Network Analyst and Target Digital Network Analyst, excelling in his roles with dedication and unmatched skill. Beyond his technical expertise, Alex made invaluable contributions as a Command Readiness Training Team assessor and mentor, generously sharing his knowledge to help and train others. His commitment to excellence earned him the Good Conduct Award, recognizing his three years of exemplary service in the Navy.

Outside of his professional achievements, Alex found joy in the simple pleasures of life that showcased his caring and nurturing soul. He loved gaming, relished cooking, and tenderly cared for his cats, moments that reflected his personality and the home he built with those he loved most. Among Alex’s proudest accomplishments was the ability to provide for his family and cherish the loving marriage he shared with his spouse, Trinity. His devotion to supporting and uplifting those around him was a testament to the character of a man who truly understood the importance of love and responsibility.

Surviving Alex are those who held a special place in his heart: his beloved spouse, Trinity; his mother, Eileen; his father, Matt; his sisters, Juniper and Ariya; and his step-siblings Kalani, Keahi, and Keanu. Their loss is profound, yet within their sorrow lies the comfort of having been part of Alex’s extraordinary life—a life that, while far too brief, was filled with laughter, love, and an unforgettable spirit.

As we reflect on Alex’s life, we remember a man who was not only smart and generous but who could effortlessly light up a room with humor and kindness. His legacy is one of compassion, dedication, and an enduring capacity to bring joy to others. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will continue to inspire and uplift, forever remembered as a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and serviceman who gave so much of himself to his country and those he loved. Rest peacefully, Alex. Your laughter and love will echo in our hearts always.
