A person is formed by the knowledge gained from the people they encounter and the things they experience. It is a true gift when that person can turn that knowledge into a legacy of grace, love and kindness. One of her favorite sayings was “Normal is a dryer setting” this quote explains a lot about the life Angie led.

To those left behind:

When I leave, I don’t want you to be too sad.

Stay Silent.

Save the words and remember the happy moments that warm the soul.

When I fall asleep let me rest. I’m gone for a reason.

If you miss me, don’t say anything.

In silence, look for my presence in my house, books, letters, pictures, a song, our favorite place.

Wear my shirt, my sweater, my jacket.

Walk in my shoes.

My room is yours, as are my pillow and blanket.

If it’s cold, wrap yourself in my stuff; my scent.

Enjoy the snacks and pictures I left with all my memories and favorite moments.

Listen to that song I loved so much.

Use my perfume and take care of my dog with love and grace.

Don’t be afraid. Run free and let your tears flow.

Let the wind caress your face.

Feel everything.

Poetry, music, stories.

Kiss the Earth.

Drink the water.

Learn the language of the birds.

If you miss me deeply, try to hide it and look for me in children, coffee, the radio and in places I used to hide.

Never say the word “Death”.

Sometimes being forgotten is sadder than dying many times and still being remembered.

When I fall asleep, bring flowers to our favorite spots and shout with all your might that “life goes on”.

The flame of life does not go out just because I’m not there.

Those who have truly lived never completely die.

They fall asleep momentarily.

Eternal sleep is a condition of the body

When I leave, extend your hand and you will feel my touch in the breeze.

You will know that I am always by your side and one day, with a smile, you will know that I have returned, to stay with you forever.

You can shed tears because they are gone or you can smile because they lived.

You can close your eyes and pray they will come back or open your eyes and see all they left for you.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see them or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live in yesterday or be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember only that they are gone or cherish their memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind and feel empty or you can do what she would want you to do; smile, open your heart and keep her memory alive by honoring what she lived by. Making a difference to any that crossed her path by treating them with love and kindness and placing no one life beneath another.

She was an independent, honest woman with a forthright nature, tempered with a selfless spirit of giving, compassion and loyalty. She lit up a room with her smile and made everyone feel seen. She offered what she could, when she had and when there was nothing more to be given, she provided strength, encouragement, knowledge and support. She carried herself with a gentle dignity that inspired everyone who knew her, proving that kindness is the greatest form of strength. She lived and loved fiercely. She was a true friend to all. Known for her generosity and ability to find beauty and joy in the smallest gestures and moments. Her life was a masterclass in love.

She cherished time spent camping with her sons. Evenings with Gerry, watching their favorite shows. She was a freelance photographer with an “eye” for inspired photographs and capturing those special moments. She enjoyed loving on her rescued fur babies, seeing her favorite band Count the Years. Of course singing her karaoke bringing back those songs from childhood to adulthood and everything in between and of course traveling which she did with family and friends. Anything and anywhere to make these special memories. She loved sharing valuable experiences with others, especially her Facebook Live audience with which she gave and received strength, support and solace. This meant everything to Angie to tell her stories and share light and love to all that listened and did it to her last days.

She would never want to be remembered as frail or always tired and stressed. She wants you to remember the laughter, the joy, the grace and most of all, the love she tried to bestow every day. The way she celebrated both the mundane and the chaos and how she recognized limitations but could still imagine the boundlessness of life.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. The family invites you to honor Angela in your own way. Share a memory. Offer kindness to others. Or simply hold your loved ones close, allowing her legacy of love, which has already-touched countless lives, to continue.

A letter written to Angela in her last days about where she wanted donations to go.

Ms. Angela,

I don’t even know where to begin… your message touched my heart in a way I can’t fully put into words. 💙

Bella and Buddy were so incredibly lucky to have you, but please know—you gave us just as much as we gave you. Hearing that Bella was your soulmate is everything. That kind of love is once in a lifetime… and I truly believe with all my heart she’ll be right there, wagging that little behind and running to you the moment you meet again. 🐾✨

It means more than you know that you want to honor Bumper Bulldog Rescue in this way. Your kindness and love will continue to save lives, give bulldogs the medical care they so desperately need, and help so many more “Bumper kids” find their forever families—all because of you.

To make sure everything goes exactly where you want it, you can direct donations to:

Angela, thank you… for Bella, for Buddy, and for the love you’ve poured into this world. You are leaving behind something truly beautiful that will live on through every bulldog we rescue.

We are here with you, and always will be. 💙🐾

With love,

Melissa
