Ashley Alexandra
Robinson
March 23, 1969 – February 18, 2026
Ashley Alexandra Robinson, 56, died peacefully in a Pensacola,Florida hospital on Wednesday February 18, 2026, following a long battle with cancer. Ashley was the only daughter of Clarice Wood Horton and Benjamin Robinson. She was the granddaughter of Patricia Patterson McKenzie, mayor of Atmore for 16 years.Ashley was a water child, having grown up spending much time on the Gulf of Mexico. She loved boating and fishing and swimming. Those interests were a large part of her life. She was well read and adored fiction in books and movies. She was a brilliant social prognosticator and great conversationalist. She had a quick wit and a delightfully quirky sense of humor. An Atmore native and resident for much of her life, Ashley attended Rachel Patterson Elementary School, graduated from Bayside Academy in Daphne, Alabama, and attended Gulf Breeze High School in Gulf Breeze,Florida (where she resided as a teenager). Most of her adult life was lived in the Pensacola area and in central North Carolina, where many of her relatives now reside. In North Carolina, she became a member of a vibrant non-denominational church. Although Ashley was raised Episcopalian, she found Jesus in the simpler, more foundational Bible teachings offered by her exposure to the culture and the fellowship of her new church home. She continued to subscribe to the online messages until the end of her life on this earth, and remained in contact with her pastor, Brian Biggers.Although she never married, or had children of her own, she loved and was loved by her family. She was a nanny for a number of years and was a devoted caregiver in that role. She was adored by her numerous nieces and nephews. It would be remiss not to mention that she was an avid animal lover. Her little dogs were as precious to her as children, and she grieved when she lost them as much as many grieve human losses. Ashley is survived by two maternal aunts; Emilie Wood Mims of Burnesville, NC, and Celine Wood Meador of Morehead City, NC; cousins:Jason Mims, Rachel Hobgood, Ali Givens, Celine Givens, Reed Meador Williams; great aunts: Catherine Patterson Fugate, Martha Patterson Lewis, Marshall Gomila Rogers, Adeline Thompson Lovelace; devoted lifelong friends, Jay Campbell, Sara Lynn Raley, Madelyn Lowery Costa;and a vast number of second cousins, great nieces and nephews, and other friends.
