Catherine Pearl Shears

Catherine Pearl Shears, born on May 8, 1955, in Pasadena, California, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, Florida, on January 2, 2026. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many through her kindness and free spirit.

Catherine was the cherished daughter of Joann Matus and a beloved sister to Linda and Ted Shears, and mother to Monique McKinney, all 4 of which preceded her in death. 

Catherine is survived by her sister Maurina Murphy, daughter, Michelle Maher; her sons, Mark and Maverick Maher; and her grandchildren: Maxwell Thornburg, Dylan Thornburg, Michael Nicholson, Joey Miller, and Cheyanne and Summre. In addition, Catherine was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.

Catherine's legacy is one of love and strength, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. As they remember her bright spirit and spirited nature, they find solace in the indelible mark she left on their lives.
