With deep respect and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Charlie McDonald "Mack" Smith, who departed this life on July 4, 2026, in Panama City, Florida, at the age of 76. Mack was born in Moultrie, Georgia on January 12, 1950, and lived there throughout his life until a few years ago when he relocated to Florida to live with his daughter due to dementia. He touched the hearts of all who knew him with his kindness, humor, and steadfast love for family.

Mack fought Lewy body dementia with courage and dignity, surrounded by those who cared for him most. Family was the core of Mack’s world, and he will forever remain cherished in their memories. He is survived by his devoted daughter, LeAnn Smith, who was always at his side, and his beloved granddaughter, Celeste Jones. Mack took immense joy in spending time with his great-grandson, Bryston Jones, whose presence never failed to bring a smile to his face. He is also fondly remembered by Daron Jones, William Smith Jr, George Smith, Gail Smith, Juanita Hopkins, and Dwayne Arce, each of whom held a meaningful place in Mack's heart. Along with many nieces and nephews….and so many friends. 

Mack is preceded in death by his loving mother, Lucille Smith; his father, William Smith; his dear sister, Juanell Smith; and his brother-in-law, Ted Hopkins. Their memories continue to be honored through the stories and values they shared as a family.

Throughout his life, Mack was known for his zest for living. He delighted in dancing at the Moose Lodge, where he gathered with friends to enjoy music and camaraderie. Those who shared these evenings with Mack remember his ease on the dance floor and the warmth he brought to the room. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, especially riding dirt roads with his daughter—a tradition that allowed them to share quiet moments and create lasting bonds.

As a proud outdoorsman, Mack loved to hunt and fish with his nephew, friends, and family members. These outings were filled with laughter, tales of old adventures, and the quiet understanding that comes from time spent in nature together. He often recounted the best memories from these trips, which stood as some of the fondest parts of his life.

Above all, Mack saw himself as the best dad and paw-paw. It was a legacy borne not just of words but of action—of love freely given, time generously shared, and guidance steadily offered. His family will always remember him for these qualities, which continue to inspire and comfort them.

Mack Smith’s life was defined by friendship, adventure, and an unwavering love for those closest to him. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished traditions, deep-rooted family values, and an unshakeable spirit of joy that will live on through those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
