Doris Ann Goodman Setzer

Doris Ann Goodman Setzer passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Born on August 11, 1937, to Ila and Virgil Goodman, Doris lived a life filled with gratitude for everything and possessed a fierce yet gentle kind of grace. Her heart was filled with love for everyone, and she had a special way of leaving those in her presence with a smile.

Doris was a voracious reader and loved walking and yoga, which she practiced like a work of art. She was also affectionately known as the “Queen of Bojangles.” In the kitchen, Doris had a remarkable talent for transforming leftovers into something extraordinary. She leaves behind wonderful family memories centered around her famous Sunday dinners, Thanksgiving meals, and red velvet cake—occasions when the whole family would come together and enjoy both her cooking and one another.

More important than any accolade, and among the memories that will last forever, was Doris’s patient wisdom. Her words could be incredibly profound while, at the same time, exceptionally gentle. Her legacy of kindness, understanding, and quiet guidance will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Doris is survived by her loving family, including her daughters, Renae Graham of Charlotte, North Carolina, Tammy Peacock (Jerry) of Destin, Florida, and Kim Mounts (Tim) of Taylorsville, North Carolina; her thirteen grandchildren, Nathan Bolick, Patrick Graham, Christian Graham, Emily Graham, Benjamin Graham, Jennifer Dunn, Candice Reid, Madison Peacock, Zachary Setzer, Hannah Setzer, Olivia Setzer, Levi Ward, and Aiden Mounts; and her great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Graham, Celeste Yeatts, Joseph Dunn, Marley Reid, Kaiden and Kaicyn Goyco, Sam and Luna Ward, and Eden Mounts.

Doris is now reunited in peace with those who went before her, including her parents, Ila and Virgil Goodman; her sisters, June Parker and Patsy Herron; her brothers, Ross, Johnny, and Bill Goodman; her husband, Lawrence Setzer; and her son, Greg Setzer.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
