Dwan Shawn Mitchell, a devoted craftsman and beloved friend, passed away on March 24th, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida. Born on November 8th, 1977, in Manhattan, Dwan lived a life marked by dedication to his trade and unwavering loyalty to those he cared for.

As a Carpenter finisher, Dwan found profound satisfaction in his work. He often expressed the joy he felt upon seeing his finished product, taking great pride in the meticulous skill required to cut precise angles with exacting accuracy. A perfectionist by nature, he approached his craft with a level of precision that spoke volumes about his character and commitment. His proudest accomplishments were evident in the lasting quality and beauty he left behind at every job site.

Beyond his professional life, Dwan's personality was defined by authenticity and steadfastness. He valued peace deeply and was known to stand firmly by his beliefs and the people he trusted, maintaining his convictions until proven otherwise. Those who were fortunate enough to be called his friends knew that he cared genuinely and profoundly. When asked about him, many would simply say he was "a good dude"—a testament to his honesty and integrity.

He leaves behind a loving family and circle of friends, including his son, Dwan Mitchell 2nd, and daughter, Shanya Mitchell. He is survived by his father, Barry Hunt; his partner, Jannifer Neal; his brothers, David Mitchell (Kristin), Damon Mitchell; his sister, Tanya Mitchell Broxton (Marcus); along with close friends Douglas Jones, Jamal Jones, and Deljunane Rogers. His extended family includes many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins who also mourn his passing.

Dwan was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Mitchell Hunt, whose memory he carried forward in his life. Grandparents Stanley& Mildred Mitchell.
