Eleanor Jean Arnold

Eleanor Jean Arnold, age 85, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in 1941 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Eleanor later moved to South Haven, Michigan. Together with her beloved husband, Allen F. Arnold, she spent many years traveling across the United States organizing and establishing businesses. Eventually, the couple settled into running the South Haven Conference Center on Lake Michigan (historically a private estate known as “Windcliff.") The center was primarily utilized as a peaceful retreat for Consumers Power Company employees, engineers, utility personnel, and operators.

Following the passing of her loving husband, Allen, on June 11, 1980, Eleanor continued to move through life with a spirit of adventure and fulfillment. She eventually relocated to Fort Walton Beach, Florida, in August 1999, allowing her to reside close to Carol Nowling, her longest lifelong friend. Eleanor was a dedicated and social presence in her community, meeting many wonderful people through her work with local engineering firms, technology groups, and at Eglin Air Force Base.

Throughout her life, Eleanor shared her home with several beloved canine companions, though her fondness for Yorkshire Terriers, in particular, was unmatched. She found peace and relaxation in attending church, TOPS meetings, researching her proud Scottish heritage, and creating beautiful floral creations. She also cherished quieter pastimes, including holding intricate tea times, reading, listening to gospel and country music, and working on various forms of artwork.

To respect Eleanor's detailed personal wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. Ultimately, her final wish will be fulfilled, as she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Allen, in Honor, MI.
