Francis David Jonik

Francis David Jonik passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, and is now in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dave was born on August 3, 1943, in Gainesville, Texas, to Frank and Annie Belle Jonik. Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wiley and Lucinda Redmon; parents, Frank and Annie Belle Jonik.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Judy; daughter, Kimberly Dinsmore (Tomas); sister, Mary Ann Craig; grandchildren Emma and Lucas Dinsmore; and many nieces and nephews.

Growing up, his summers were spent with his grandparents in Oak Bowery, Alabama. He had many wonderful memories of those times. Dave worked at Smith’s Bakery and then became an exceptional house painter. He was very meticulous, always paying attention to detail, doing superb work in everything he touched. In 1987, he became employed with NADEP on base and ended his career in 2005 building exhibits at the Pensacola Naval Aviation Museum. Dave’s father, Frank, had his very own Dance Band in the 50s and 60s and named the band Francis David.

Dave was an avid fisherman back in the day and could throw a mullet net like no other. The family enjoyed many fish fries of mullet, grouper, snapper, and flounder. He loved tinkering in his garage, taking care of the family cars, washing and waxing on a regular basis. His real passion was mowing the lawn in Beulah and taking care of his wife Judy.

The family would like to thank oncologist Dr. Yazan Alsayed and team members Tara, Sherry, Wanda, Neeley, Sandra, Don, Mary Bess, Lindsey, Lynn, John and Brittney for their compassionate care during his time at the Cancer Center.

A memorial service will be held at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Friends and family may gather at 10 a.m. with the service to follow at 10:30 a.m.
