In Loving Memory of Joan Mae Cornman

Joan Mae Cornman, 80, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 29, 2026. She was born on November 19, 1945, in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania.

Joan was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

During her years in Pennsylvania, Joan was a hardworking woman who helped work the family dairy farm, cooked for several local restaurants, and worked at Union City Chair Company. She was never afraid of hard work and took pride in doing what needed to be done.

Joan found joy in the simple things in life. She loved crocheting, crafts, and working on puzzles. She especially enjoyed playing Mahjong on her tablet and could often be found watching crime shows and documentaries. She also had a love for travel and enjoyed sharing stories of the places she had visited throughout the United States.

Joan had an adventurous side as well. One of her favorite stories to tell was about going ziplining in Las Vegas—a memory that perfectly captured her willingness to try something new, embrace an adventure, and make the most of life.

Faith was also an important part of Joan's life. After moving to Florida, she enjoyed attending Cross Faith Church in Molino, Florida, where she found fellowship and community.

Joan is survived by her children, Donald Buckley of Youngsville, Pennsylvania; Clifford Cornman and his wife, Etta, of Centerville, Pennsylvania; and Joan Lapeyrouse and her husband, Michael, of Pensacola, Florida. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and her only sister, Karen Shelton of Disputanta, Virginia.

Joan was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Snyder, who passed away when she was very young; her father and mother Chester and Lois Cornman; and her brothers, James Snyder, Jack Snyder, Larry Snyder, Dennis Cornman, Roger Cornman, and Rodney Cornman.

Joan leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and love. She will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, her love of family, her faith, her creativity, and her adventurous heart. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched and in the stories her family will continue to share for generations to come.

The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Joan's family in Virginia for the loving care they provided to her over the years, as well as to the many dear friends she made there. Their friendship, kindness, and care meant so much to Joan and to those who loved her.

She will be deeply loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Disputanta, Virginia, where Joan's ashes will be spread.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate houseplants, garden plants, or flowers that can be cared for and cherished by her loved ones as a living reminder of Joan and the love she shared with her family.
