Joel Dunkin Mullis

March 16, 1956 — December 12, 2025

Joel Dunkin Mullis, age 69, passed away on December 12, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He was born on March 16, 1956, in Palatka, Florida.

Anyone who had the privilege of meeting Joel had no choice but to smile. He had a natural gift for humor, a quick wit, and a heart that was as generous as it was kind. Joel was giving, caring, thoughtful, and the kind of man who made people feel at ease just by being himself.

Above all else, Joel was a devoted father and a proud Papa. While his children were growing up, he was a wonderful, steady presence in their lives—always supportive, always on their side, and always ready with encouragement or laughter when it was needed most. He cherished his role as “Papa” and spoke of his grandchildren with immense pride and love.

Joel was a country boy at heart. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and running dogs, and throughout his life, he was rarely without a four-legged companion by his side. His dogs weren’t just pets—they were his best friends, a reflection of his loyal and simple love for the outdoors and the life he treasured.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Joan Wilson, Jo Mullis, and Ginger Manning; his son, Jared Mullis; his daughter, Mandy Gnader; and his beloved grandchildren, Morgan Robinson, MycaRose Gnader, Karma Linson, and Trevor Mullis, who were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Hyman Mullis; his mother, Jean Folsom Mullis; his sisters, Gay Wales and Frances Keeton; and his brothers, Henry Mullis and Richard Mullis.

A private viewing for immediate family will be held at West Florida Funeral Home in Pensacola, Florida.

Joel will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on in the smiles he brought to others and the deep bonds he leaves behind.
