Judith Sydney Weisbuch

Judith Sydney Freidin Weisbuch (Judy), age 92, who lived most of her life in the greater New York City area, passed away in Gulf Breeze, Florida on July 1, 2026 with her children by her side.

Judy was born in The Bronx, New York on August 23, 1933, to Philip Freidin and Edith Aronowitz Freidin. She was a voracious reader and great student, graduating Evander Childs High School at the age of 16. Judy went on to study statistics at Hunter College.

Judy left college to marry her high school sweetheart, William Weisbuch (Bill) on January 1, 1952. Judy and Bill eventually settled in Emerson, New Jersey to raise their family. Judy and Bill were active members of the Emerson Jewish Center and the Emerson Golf and Country Club. Judy loved classical music and for a time was a member of a recorder quintet. Judy returned to college later in life, achieving her ambition of a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ramapo College in 1975. Judy worked for many years as a computer typesetter lastly at Medical Economics.

Upon Bill’s passing in 2010 Judy moved to The Highlands at Westwood in Westwood, New Jersey. She was an active member of the women’s golf league at Paramus Golf Club and had a steady mahjong game that met two to three times a week. She loved to travel into New York City to see Broadway shows and was a lifelong reader of the New York Times, completing the crossword puzzle daily.

Although Judy insisted she would never move out of the metro-New York area, in 2024 she moved to The Arbors of Gulf Breeze in Gulf Breeze, Florida to be closer to her daughter. She made many new friends among the residents and staff and was known for her cheerful demeanor and sharp wit.

Remaining to cherish Judy’s memory are her children, Stephen Weisbuch and Nancy Hyndman and her husband Gilbert Hyndman, her grandchildren, Elizabeth Hyndman Pereira and her husband Antonio Pereira, Jacob Weisbuch, Alasdair Hyndman and his wife Wendy Baron, Sam Weisbuch and his wife Kyrie Fisher Weisbuch and her great-grandson Alexander Pereira.

The family plans to hold a service at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries in Paramus, New Jersey in the late summer or early fall. 

In leiu of flowers memorial donations in Judith Weisbuch’s memory may be directed to one of her favorite charities that have been struggling in recent years, Public Broadcasting System (PBS) or Planned Parenthood.
