With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Lisa Gossett Beckvermit, who passed away on November 4, 2026, due to organ failure.Lisa was born on January 27, 1961, to Peggy and James Gossett on an Air Force Base in France. She attended Fort Walton Beach High School before going on to serve in the United States Army as a dog trainer. She later became a mental health coordinator, where she met her wife, Janet Rector. Together, they shared nearly 38 years of marriage.Lisa was a loving mother to two children, Sharon and Garrett; and her sister Karen Gossett. She also was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, and a loving great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren.Her grandchildren were Zachary, Alyssa, Ashley, Ashton, and Alexander. Her great-grandchildren were Atlas, A’qere, Oakland, and A’khiya.Lisa was one of the strongest and most stubborn women you could ever meet. Throughout her life, she faced countless medical challenges and eventually became disabled, but she never allowed her health problems to take away her happiness or her love for life. She fought for her life like hell, showing a strength and determination that those who knew her will never forget. She was an avid beach lover who enjoyed traveling, spending time by the water, thrifting, shopping, and hunting for the best deals. You could almost always find her with her Gucci bag, sunglasses, and designer perfume. She had her own style, her own personality, and a way of making life a little more interesting. One of the biggest parts of Lisa’s heart belonged to animals. She was a devoted animal lover and dog rescuer who cared deeply for animals in need. Her love for them was just another reflection of the compassion she carried throughout her life.Lisa leaves behind a family who loves her deeply and memories that will last for generations. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever carry pieces of her with them. Although our time with her was never long enough, the love she gave and the strength she showed will continue to live on through everyone who knew her.
