Maryetta Davis Doss

Maryetta Davis Doss, fondly known to her loved ones as “M,” was born on April 10, 1951, in Washington, D.C. She gracefully departed this world on June 5, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida, after a lifelong struggle with multiple sclerosis and complications arising from acute pancreatic cancer.

Throughout her journey, Maryetta demonstrated unparalleled strength and resilience. As a dedicated real estate investor and commercial real estate developer, she pursued her career passionately and with unwavering determination, never allowing her health challenges to hinder her aspirations or shape her identity. Her contagious smile radiated warmth and joy, making every moment spent with her truly special.

Maryetta’s caring nature extended beyond her professional life; she had a profound love for animals, especially her treasured cats and dogs. With a heart full of compassion, she found joy in rescuing and rehabilitating feral cats, tirelessly working to find them loving homes. Her commitment to animal welfare was one of her proudest accomplishments, as she dedicated countless hours and resources to support 501(c)(3) charities focused on feline rescues.

In her spare time, Maryetta cherished the tranquility that came from being on the water. She found great delight in boating, feeling the gentle bounce of the waves beneath her as she spent her days basking in nature's beauty. Maryetta was also an avid listener, fascinated by the life stories of those around her, and she forged connections that touched the hearts of many.

Though faced with the challenges of multiple sclerosis, Maryetta refused to let it define her. Her faith in God and Jesus was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life, allowing her to focus on gratitude and love rather than dwelling in despair. Even during her final moments, she epitomized generosity, selflessly donating her electric wheelchair to a child in need, a testament to her unwavering spirit and kindness.

Maryetta is survived by her loving partner and caregiver of 26 years, Charles Lenetine, and her brother, Stephen B. Davis. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Capt. USN Robert F. Doss, and her parents, Millie Davis and Lochlan Davis.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Maryetta will remember her as an earth-born angel — a beacon of hope and a living testament to the power of love, bravery, and compassion. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who crossed her path, and her legacy of kindness will endure in the lives she touched.
