Patrick Thorp Callaway

Patrick Thorp Callaway, born on July 29, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026. His gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched all who knew him, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and devotion.

Patrick was a proud graduate of Memphis State University, an accomplishment that set the foundation for his successful career. He dedicated many years as a commercial real estate developer, building not just properties but also relationships and communities throughout his career. His intelligence, dependability, and strong work ethic earned both respect and admiration from colleagues and friends.

Patrick’s warmth extended well beyond his professional life. He was cherished for his great sense of humor and his loving, generous nature. Family meant everything to Patrick, and his proudest accomplishment was being, as many would agree, the best dad in the world and a great friend to many. His home was a place of laughter, love, and comfort—a place where his family always felt supported, welcomed, and deeply loved.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Kelly Deman and her husband Steven Deman; his daughter Kerrie Callaway; his grandchildren Katelyn Callaway, Colton Deman, Braden Deman, and Camryn Deman; his great-granddaughters Zahra Vargas and Fiona Vargas; his brother Michael Callaway; sister-in-law Donna Callaway; his sisters, Carol Wingo and Cindy Connolly; brother-in-law Kevin Connolly; sister-in-law Caroline Gibson; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, all of whom were dear to his heart.

Patrick was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Dede Goodwin Callaway, as well as his dearly loved parents, Thorp and Lucille Callaway.

Those who had the privilege to know Patrick will remember his gentle, loving manner, his great sense of humor, and his ability to draw people together. The world was a better place because he was in it, and his life was a testament to the power of kindness, laughter, and unconditional love.

Though his absence leaves a great void, Patrick’s legacy shines on in the lives he touched and the loving family he nurtured. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with the love, admiration, and respect of all whose lives he touched.
