Robert Kirkland Griffith

Robert Kirkland Griffith, “Kirk”, age 76, of Pensacola, Florida passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife and children. Kirk was born in Pensacola, Florida on October 23, 1949. Kirk graduated from Woodham High school in 1968 and went on to attend Troy University where he played football as a halfback before earning a technical degree as a Pipefitter-Welder. He married Patricia Ann Majors, “Patti,” on March 29, 1980 in Pensacola, Florida, officiated by Brother Dale Patterson at East Brent Baptist Church. They remained married for 46 years until the time of his death, and raised their three children together in Perdido Key, Florida.

Kirk began his career at the Westinghouse Facility in Pensacola as a machinist, but later worked as an offshore welder on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico before starting his own business as a repairman in general construction to make more time for his family. Kirk had a deeply adventurous spirit and a level of vigor seldom found in ordinary men. As a Jack of All Trades, he could hardly be defined by one passion in life. While he was an accomplished free diver and outdoorsman, he had a profound love of God’s creatures, and raised many exotic animals throughout his life. He lived his life without fear and with a sense of duty to those in need whom he came across. He was an accomplished builder and DIY inventor, for which his children fondly remember him for numerous projects that enriched their youth. He also spent an unknowable number of hours coaching and practicing baseball and softball with his children. Kirk cherished his children more than they would ever know, and was particularly touched when his daughter of a previous marriage during his youth, Beth, came into his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Curtis Stanley Griffith and Ella Jean Griffith (Conger). He is survived by his wife, Patti, his four children, Beth (Nick), Kirkland, Celia (John) and Ian (Alexandra): his grandchildren, Larsen, Erik, Cameron, Kiera, Nolan, Owen, Wyatt, Krew and Isla. He is also survived by his siblings: Cary (Brenda), Cindy (Glenn) and Ginny (Dean) and nieces and nephews: Chastity, April, Schyler, Deidra and Alex.

Memorial donations in Kirk’s memory may be directed to The Point Church on Innerarity Point Road in Pensacola, Florida.
