Shari Lynn Simmons, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 6, 2025, at Vitas Hospice, in the embrace of her cherished family and friends. Born on March 7, 1964, in Denver, Colorado, Shari was a force of nature, known for her spunky personality and her ability to brighten any room with her humor and presence.
Shari's career was marked by her roles as a manager of The Tastee Freeze and a cleaning and painting company, where her strong work ethic and keen leadership skills shone brightly. She was also proud to have earned a degree in cosmetology, an accomplishment that stood testament to her determination and passion for personal care and beauty.
Throughout her life, Shari displayed a remarkable love for her family, particularly her children—sons Christopher Tillery, David Grimes, and James, and daughter Rebecca—as well as her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Shari's devotion extended beyond her immediate family; she was a loyal friend and confidante to many, always ready with kindness, a listening ear, and a hearty laugh. Her relationships were characterized by her candid nature, as she was never shy about speaking her mind. If words failed, her expressive face conveyed her thoughts with clarity.
Shari created many cherished memories, especially through her culinary talents; her pumpkin pie was legendary, and she would lovingly make individual servings for her son Christopher. Her passions also included a love for her dogs, fishing, collecting unicorns, and playing bingo, pursuits that reflected her vibrant spirit and love for life.
She faced her battles with cancer and kidney disease with strength and resilience, often surrounded by her best friend and partner in crime, Lavonda Spring, who supported and stood by her through every challenge. Together, they created laughter and joy amid hardships, showcasing the power of friendship and companionship.
Shari is remembered not only for her accomplishments but for the warmth and laughter she brought into the lives of those who knew her. She is survived by her sons Christopher, David, and James; daughter Rebecca; brother Gary Fix; sister Susan Guffy; and daughters-in-law Denae Godwin and Dawna Grimes. She was preceded in death by her father Gerald Fix and her mother Lynda Morriss.
Shari’s legacy will live on through the love she shared, the joy she spread, and the memories we will forever cherish. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
