Shaye Mott Ackelsberg, born on August 11, 1960, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Pensacola. He left this life as he lived it—fully and authentically.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Gertrude Ackelsberg, who bestowed upon him the values of kindness and generosity that defined his life. Shaye will be interred in Miami, joining his parents' earthly remains.
Reflecting on his rich life, Shaye often remarked, “I’ve had a hell of a ride.” This statement encapsulates a journey filled with excitement and passion—a ride he shared with those who were fortunate enough to know him. He began his higher education enjoying a tennis scholarship at the University of Alabama before transferring after an injury to the University of Florida, where he pursued his degree in economics. It was there that he forged his love for all things Gators, spending countless hours immersing himself in music and the community around him.
Shaye was never one to shy away from helping a friend in need, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. His infectious laughter and sparkling blue eyes made an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
His family and friends will forever carry fond memories of him and his love for music. With a discerning ear, he dedicated much of his time to researching artists and curating an impressive collection of over 10,000 titles.
Shaye is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Frances Ogden. He enjoyed his role as a stepfather to Kris and Alexis Hayes and their son Jordan, Cheri and Anastasia Fasy and their daughter Jolie; and Charles Fasy and his fiancé Chloe. The bonds rooted in love and respect, will carry forward
As we remember Shaye, let us celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—the memories of joy, laughter, and an abiding love for music. A life well-lived and deeply cherished, Shaye will be missed.
