Thearon Jefferson Gavin

Thearon Gavin, a resident of Walton County Florida, passed away on August 25, 2026. He was born June l,1928 to Bessie Daughtry and Talla Gavin in Mossy Head, FL.

Mr. Gavin graduated from DeFuniak Springs High School in 1946. He served three years in the Army and four in the Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from military service, he attended Parks Aeronautical College, a branch of St Louis University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He attended Portland University, Portland, where he earned a Master's degree in Business Administration.

He was employed by Marquardt Corporation of Van Nuys, Calif, Aerojet Corporation of Sacramento, Calif., and retired from Civil Service in 1988 from Hill Air Force Base of Ogden, Utah. He has resided in Florida since 1990.

Mr. Gavin was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Arline (Lottie), Mother Bessie Gavin and father Talla Gavin of Mossy Head, FL; brother Hessie Lee Gavin; three sisters - Pauline Medley of Crestview, FL; Adileen Alford of Birmingham, AL; and Ruth Alford of DeFuniak Springs, FL. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Thearon brightened the lives of all with whom he came in contact. In exchange, all loved him. A strong man who helped anyone in need, he was a great role model.

Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, North Dakota. If desired, donations can be made to Vet Dogs (vetdogs.org) who provides service animals for wounded veterans or Tunnels to Towers (t2t.org) who provides services and housing to injured veterans and first responders. Please, no flowers.
